Ayad Akhtar is a playwright, novelist, screenwriter, and actor whose 2013 play, Disgraced, won a Pulitzer Prize and was nominated for a Tony Award. He is also the recipient of an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Letters, two Obie awards, a Jeff award, an Independent Spirit Award nomination, and the Outer Critics Circle John Gassner Award. His most recent work, Junk, is, according to the Los Angeles Times, “dramatically enthralling…a thrilling play…a modern morality tale…in a world where money, the new might, now makes right.”
