Brickell Avenue Literary Society is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) membership organization of avid readers that hosts notable authors at eight to nine luncheon meetings each year.
Each season of Brickell Avenue Literary Society brings a wonderful variety of acclaimed authors speaking on topics of great relevance and interest. Members and their guests enjoy the author's talk and a question-and-answer dialogue in an intimate setting. They also receive a signed copy of the author's book.
Since 1988, we have hosted more than 200 authors—novelists, historians, memoirists, journalists, poets, and playwrights—ranging from seasoned veterans to bright young talents. Past seasons have included distinguished authors such as Salman Rushdie, winner of the Mann Booker Prize and the National Book Award; Adam Johnson, who won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2013; and George Saunders, who claimed the PEN/Malamud Award, the Folio Prize, and a MacArthur “Genius Grant.”
We have no religious affiliation, but we are fortunate to meet at Temple Israel of Greater Miami, a lovely and spacious facility that allows us to accept new members and welcome guests. Click here to find us on the map.
